In person CEU classes are approved for WA Journeyman and Trainees
Wenatchee Public Library
This is an 8 hour course that takes a practical, hands-on look at overcurrent protection and how it’s applied under the NEC. We’ll start with the basic purpose of overcurrent protection devices (OCPDs) and work through how the Code tells us to size and locate them to protect conductors and equipment. From there, we’ll dive into the special rules for specific equipment like HVAC systems, capacitor banks, busways, fixed electric heating, panelboards, service conductors, and transformers—using real-world examples and calculations along the way. We’ll also talk about common mistakes electricians make with OCPD sizing and installation, and how to avoid them. Whether it’s understanding continuous load adjustments, applying manufacturer nameplate data, or navigating tap rules, this class keeps it straightforward and grounded in the field realities you deal with every day.
